That’s giving them a lot of credit, mind you, but they’re just so deliciously meta. Fake marriage, fake breasts, fake everything: they live life in scare quotes.
Tactful tip #1
Find someone annoying, repulsive or just plain horrifying? Imagine they’re a performance artist. Life’s more fun that way. So’s Ann Coulter.

(a serious question)
I want to leave a situation that isn’t what I want to be doing. I don’t want to give it any more of my energy. How can I re-focus when I spend the majority of time in that situation and it requires so much of me?
In other words, girl’s gotta relocate.
Can you hear me?

Dear Trainwrecks readers,
I thought I was logged into my tact shack blog when I posted the last two entries. I’m so embarrassed, but way too lazy to copy and paste them.
In tact,

That’s OK, probably get more traffic on TW. Thanks for putting me in my place and welcome back.
And you can dish it back out to boot. Thanks for the warm welcome.
Giving and Receiving
lovepuppy:
I am a really touchy/feely person and I am this way because one time I heard/read something like “people need to be touched 5 times a day to not go insane”. And I’m a little afraid of that sometimes. I also just love hugs and kisses.
But it makes me a little sad that I am usually the person that wants to hug and kiss everyone else and people don’t try to hug or kiss me that much....

My original missive, which sparked so much righteous anger among female Tumblrs:
“Girls are incredibly annoying this way - give you the vibe all night, accept your drinks, flirt, then come last call, she and her friends all bounce together in what seems like 10 seconds. And so, after this happened to me a few times, I too no longer buy girls drinks. Do you hear that women? Stop...

I was surreptitiously browsing Pets Finder and came across what must be destiny. A dog named Rhoda! She only gets better!
Like Scarlett O’Hara of “Gone with the Wind”, our gal Rhoda has vowed never to go hungry again and is in foster care in Hoboken. Since Rhoda is so very grateful for any attention, she is a joy to groom and would do best with an active person...

Taxes
jgh:
This is my first year of filing taxes on my own. Internet: do you use a tax service or software like TurboTax.com? How do you recommend an abstract thinker parse through the bean-counting?
TurboTax. Super easy.

The artful snarker
I’m feeling pretty good about my digs here at the new tact shack, and I’ll tell you why: I’ve got a new weapon in my snarky arsenal that I couldn’t use very often on Trainwrecks. Subtlety.
Now, let’s be frank, the only reason any of you are reading this is because you enjoyed Trainwrecks. It’s possible that you hated everything I ever wrote, but how would...

Discuss
I’ve been telling anyone who will listen the same thing for months and clogging up Trainwrecks’ feed squeeing over Kia! Kia! Kia! Or at least I thought that’s what I was doing. Since there’s no evidence to back me up, perhaps when I thought I was lauding KiaMatthews, I was in fact snarking Julia Allison. That would explain the recent misunderstanding.

I have to respectfully disagree that questioning an online social network’s TOS practices in light of damning evidence is necessarily “negative.”
Or, it is negative, but that’s not a bad thing. Would you rather have a complacent user base that doesn’t raise a finger in...

Mine peaced out a while ago.
Oh stop. Positive vibes are way stronger than negative ones so jump all aboard on the peace-loving-happy train. Toot toot.
Are we positive people even allowed to acknowledge the existence of so called “negative vibes?” I didn’t think we were, but perhaps I’ve been mistaken all these years....

Holy Karp! Shit is hitting the proverbial fan.

But is it NYT-worthy? Even as a contributor to a purged blog, this seems to like the proverbial tempest in a tea kettle.

‘all five of the suspended blogs were devoted to criticism of the same person, a blogger Mr. Thomas describes as “microcelebrity egoblogger Julia Allison.”’
Ugh. While Trainwrecks did devote some effort to snarking JA, no one who read us could argue that we were exclusively devoted to criticising her. I’m signing on to team publicity stunt. Nothing like stifling speech to...

This is great, but I doubt her real name is Rhoda Morgenstern.
Good catch. A lady never dispenses advice under her real name. That would be very unseemly.
Blind item
Purged bloggers and the people who loved their work (or loved to hate their work) may have some cause for hope. Keep up the good work, defenders of snark!
How to blow someone off, nuclear style
Dear Rhoda
A nightmare ex-roommate of mine from college has been sending out “I have an interview in ____! I know you live there! Let’s hang out!” messages. No one in my group of friends has responded because we all want to run and hide. When this particular person doesn’t get e-mail responses, she starts leaving semi-bitchy voice messages. How to best avoid her while she...

Now THAT, my dear readers, is an apology.
I have ghost followers
Stupid question: right now, I have a grand total of 5 followers. When I click over to see who is following me, only two followers (one of which is Trainwrecks, sniff) are visible. So will the other three show up in time, or is there some new invisi-follow ability that red headed stepchildren like me aren’t privy to?
Paranoia is so unbecoming.
Hello Tumblr!
I’m Rhoda. I had a fun run with Trainwrecks and started the tactshack in the midst of that run, but as you can see, it went nowhere. I got too caught up in the snark to dispense my earnest and tactful advice.
So, now that Trainwrecks is kaput, I’ve got an opportunity to mix my two mediums, snark and tact. We’ll see how it goes!
If you’d like some tactful advice,...
